The USAID/Jordan Business Growth Activity (USAID BGA/The Project) will enable Jordanian SMEs and startups to improve their productivity and competitiveness, create new jobs and innovation across a range of growth sectors, as well as advance Jordan towards a more prosperous, resilient, and inclusive future.

Through a series of evidence-based interventions, USAID BGA will: (i) support SMEs and startups via direct firm-level assistance; (ii) improve SME and startups financial practices, develop customized financial products, and provide transaction facilitation that mobilizes millions in capital; and (iii) address firm-level constraints through advocacy and public-private dialogue that improves business practices and complements USAID’s other policy reform initiatives.

USAID BGA will support SMEs and startups with growth potential to scale domestically and globally based on their financial health, sales growth, potential for job generation, impact on the local ecosystem, and degree of innovation whether in business model or market approach, product and technology enabled service.

As part of the support provided, USAID BGA is working with SMEs to develop and implement online marketing campaigns for beneficiaries. The online marketing campaigns will vary in type, duration, metrics, and targets to be achieved based on the needs of each company. The online marketing campaigns will be based on an “online marketing action plans” that USAID BGA will develop with SMEs.

In order to develop these online marketing action plans, USAID BGA is looking for an expert to support this process and also supervise the implementation of those plans with the different vendors, and finally support in evaluating the implemented campaigns.

Objective: 

The purpose is to support USAID BGA technical team in the development, implementation and evaluation of online marketing campaigns to be conducted on behalf for the supported SMEs. This would allow for the successful implementation of those campaigns and achieving the set targets. The main task the consultant will work on would be the development of online marketing action plans which should align with the overall business’ goals and your key performance indicators for SMEs supported. The task will also include supporting the selection of service providers (marketing agencies vendors) and evaluating the vendors performance and the campaigns implemented.

Online marketing action plans are meant to be refined and summarized digital marketing strategies for SMEs that outline how a business will achieve its marketing goals via online channels, when, and what targets are meant to be achieved. This will focus on the campaigns supported by USAID BGA but might include online marketing campaigns that are beyond this scope in order to sustain the benefits for the supported SMEs.

For support agreements (Firm Level Technical Assistance Agreements – FLTAs) that have already been signed with beneficiaries, online marketing action plans shall be built around the support suggested in those agreements. For the agreements to be signed, the expert will have an input on how to formulate these agreements when it is related to online marketing campaigns.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The following tasks will be performed to achieve the targeted deliverables as mentioned below:

  1. Develop online marketing action plans for beneficiaries including:
    1. Help companies define the goals they want to achieve
    2. Help companies define their target market/ Personas (if necessary)
    3. Help choose the social media platform or online channels to be used.
    4. Help USAID BGA define Budget for the intended online campaigns.
    5. Help set targets to be achieved and linking them to USAID BGA indicators
    6. Support in formulating related support language in USAID BGA support agreements.
  2. Support USAID BGA in selection of online marketing campaigns vendors
    1. Help USAID BGA in writing scopes and task orders
    2. Support USAID BGA in selection of vendors based on business needs of supported SMEs.
    3. Act as a liaison between SMEs, USAID BGA and implementing vendors in order to solve any possible issues.
    4. Support providing feedback on Vendors performance

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Business and Marketing or any related field.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in sales and marketing including 10 years in digital marketing.
  • A proven track record of developing and implementing online marketing campaigns and digital strategies
  • Experience in working with donors and donors funded project
  • Experience in the local and regional markets is preferred.

  • 2- Content Development (GIG Economy) Expert
  • The USAID/Jordan Business Growth Activity (USAID BGA/The Project) will enable Jordanian SMEs and startups to improve their productivity and competitiveness, create new jobs and innovation across a range of growth sectors, as well as advance Jordan towards a more prosperous, resilient, and inclusive future.

    Through a series of evidence-based interventions, USAID BGA will: (i) support SMEs and startups via direct firm-level assistance; (ii) improve SME and startups financial practices, develop customized financial products, and provide transaction facilitation that mobilizes millions in capital; and (iii) address firm-level constraints through advocacy and public-private dialogue that improves business practices and complements USAID’s other policy reform initiatives.

    USAID BGA will support SMEs and startups with growth potential to scale domestically and globally based on their financial health, sales growth, potential for job generation, impact on the local ecosystem, and degree of innovation whether in business model or market approach, product and technology enabled service.

    The main area of support to one of the assisted SMEs is related to developing content for the SMES platform in order to be able to accommodate for the needs of new markets, especially the Saudi market. The SME will use the content to produce educational videos targeting the Saudi market which will be produced in Saudi Arabic accents.

    Additionally, and building on the updated content on the SME platform, the support will be extended to support the company’s participation in LEAP Tech Conference in Saudi Arabia 2023

    Objective: 

    The purpose of this service is focused on supporting the SME in Content development (script writing in Arabic) for 5 different topics on the SME platform. The script writing will be developed by subject matter experts in their perspective fields and will cover topics of gig economy. The support in content development will not include financing the production of the educational videos and it will only cover the write up of the scripts for these videos.

    In order to achieve its objectives in supporting the growth and export potential of the SME, USAID BGA is looking for a qualified consultant that will support the company by developing the content through covering the following topics:

    Qualifications: 

    • Experience in gig economy.
    • Working knowledge in online freelancing platforms, including but not limited to:
      • proposal writing for gigs
      • legal and financial aspects relevant to freelancing
      • Building a profile
      • Marketing self
      • Closing deals
      • Characteristics to succeed in freelancing including agility, persistence, etc
      • Skills needed for freelancing
    • Ability to showcase examples of successful profiles/ accounts on gig platforms
    • Excellent Arabic language and writing skills.
    • Creativity and imagination to come up with original ideas.
    • Resilience to cope with changes and having to rewrite scripts within deadlines.
    • Experience in script writing with the ability to:
      • (1) define the structure of scripts,
      • (2) identify generalized techniques which consistently furnish the essential content of such scripts,
      • (3) demonstrate these techniques in the case of entrepreneurs.
    • Knowledge in self-branding and promotion 

    Education and Experience

    • Master’s degree in economics, business, or other relevant fields
    • At least 10 years of experience in the above-mentioned sectors.
