Job Description

Global Tribes is seeking a proactive, self-starting Sales Officer with a knack for public speaking and an ability to build iron-clad business relationships. Experience in the travel industry is absolutely necessary, as is demonstrated success in travel or tour operations sales.


What does the sales officer do?

The Sales Officer will sell a full range of Global Tribes products (tours and group travel) and will manage, grow and develop relationships with travel agents, retirement communities, and other affinity groups. This position is responsible for achieving revenue targets by expanding these channels and maintaining profit margins, presenting products to guests, and maintaining extensive knowledge of all available tours.


Key Tasks:

  1. Identify and cultivate new travel agencies or agents that can cost-effectively grow product distribution.
  2. Generate new business relationships with innovative and non-traditional affinity groups such as retirement communities, non-profit organizations, etc.
  3. Manage existing relationships with key accounts.
  4. Develop a calling strategy to achieve the sales targets for the company that prioritizes agencies by productivity and potential; generate 50 outbound sales calls per week.
  5. Manage and create presentations, such as; sales documents, sales presentations and sales reports.
  6. Attend trade shows, organize and staff these shows
  7. Analyze sales reports for key trends and provide weekly sales updates on activities and opportunities.
  8. Participate and host familiarization trips as required.
  9. Increase company sales
  10. Achieving the desired profit based on the established strategic plan


Qualifications: What are some critical capabilities for this opportunity?

  1. 2+ years experience in the travel industry, Hotels, or any related field 
  2. Demonstrated successful sales history in the travel industry.
  3. Understanding the sales process, including commission structures, marketing plans, incentives, overrides, Planning, and group sales.
  4. Excellent communicator; good public speaker and ability to develop and deliver presentations to agency and consumer audiences.
  5. Strong initiative and self-starter.
  6. Proficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
